What's the difference between the standalone and cloud devices?

Shutter Security and Home Security run entirely on GSM — they call and SMS you directly through their own SIM card, no subscription required. Shutter Cloud Security and Home Cloud Security drop the SIM in favour of WiFi and a subscription, in exchange for a web portal, mobile app, event logs and alerts across more channels.

How long does the battery last?

On battery power, Shutter Security and Home Security run 12–15 days per charge; Shutter Cloud Security runs roughly 60 days. Home Security and Home Cloud Security are mains-powered with automatic battery backup, so battery life isn't a day-to-day concern for those.

What happens if the battery runs low?

The device's on-device LED indicates low battery so you can act before it runs out. On the standalone line, the battery is designed for easy removal — take it out, charge it, and slot it back in.

What is DND, and does it stop alerts entirely?

DND (Do Not Disturb) is a schedule you set — usually your sleep hours — during which the device won't call your phone for routine events. Email alerts still go out during DND; only the call is held back. Any event flagged 24hr-priority rings through regardless of DND.

Do I need to recharge a SIM every month?

Only on the standalone GSM line (Shutter Security, Home Security) — that SIM is yours to manage. The cloud line (Shutter Cloud Security, Home Cloud Security) has no SIM at all; alerting is billed through your VoidStar subscription instead.

How is the cloud subscription billed?

Plans are billed monthly or yearly based on how many devices you run — Starter (up to 5), Business (up to 20), or Enterprise (up to 100). Billing is currently logged manually by our team; see the Cloud Platform page for current pricing.

Can I install this myself?

Yes — the shutter-mount devices fit any level of shutter, and the home devices install near a wall socket. Configuration for both lines happens through the VoidStar mobile app; the cloud line adds the web portal as an option.

What if my WiFi goes down?

On the standalone line, the GSM call and SMS still go out even without WiFi — only the email alert depends on a WiFi connection. On the cloud line, WiFi is required for every alert path, since all dispatch happens through VoidStar's servers.

What's the warranty on VoidStar hardware?

Every VoidStar device is covered by a standard hardware warranty against manufacturing defects. Exact terms are confirmed with you at the time of purchase — ask us when you request a quote.

How is my data protected in the cloud?

Every device authenticates through multiple checks before the cloud accepts anything from it, credentials are encrypted at rest, and your portal account only ever shows your own devices and logs. See the Security & Trust page for details.
